Obituary for Mary Katherine "Kathy" Saunders

Mary Katherine “Kathy” Saunders, 58, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2019. She was born in Portsmouth to the late Charles and Eva Chandler Malone. She was predeceased by two sisters, Ruth Elva Hope and Mae Devon Paez. Kathy was a retired hairdresser at Phoenix 4 Hair Salon, where she was loved by all the staff and clients. Kathy was a member and loved the Women of the Moose, Portsmouth Lodge #966.

She is survived by her husband, Robert A. Saunders, Sr.; a daughter, Erica Devon Saunders; a son, Robert A. Saunders, Jr.; two sisters, Charlene Britt and Helen Marie Robertson; six grandchildren, Blake Saunders, Drake Saunders, Zachary Saunders, Braylee Saunders, Nora West and Cayden Bogan and a host of loving extended family and friends. To know her was to love her, she will be greatly missed.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Friday, May 17 in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening 6:30 to 9:00 PM.
